How to fix the disappeared avast icon from system tray?

Windows XP task bar has an option to hide unused icons. So the reason some icons are disappearing might be because you haven’t used them for a long time and Windows has decided that they should be hidden.
The solution to the problem

Follow the instructions to fix the disappeared avast icon from system tray:

    1. For Windows XP:
      1. Right-click on ‘Taskbar.’
      2. Choose ‘Properties’.
      3. Go to ‘Taskbar and Start Menu Properties’.
      4. Click the ‘Taskbar’ tab
      5. Uncheck ‘Hide inactive icons’ check box.
    2. Other than Windows XP
      1. Go to ‘C:’ > ‘Program Files’ > ‘Alwil Software’ > ‘Avast 4.7’.
      2. Run ‘ashDisp.exe’.
      3. Check the icons.
      4. Restart your computer.
      5. If icons disappear after restart, make a shortcut to the ‘ashDisp.exe’ file in your startup folder.

Check your Startup folder and the starter registry entries to verify whether the above programs are really started at system start.
