How to restore the ‘New Contact Group’ button missing in Windows Vista

This problem is caused because the folder type instead of being set to contacts is set to some other type like pictures, documents, etc.

The solution to the problem

Follow the instructions to restore the New Contact Group button missing in Windows Vista:

  1. 1

    Click ‘Start’.

  2. 2

Type ‘Contacts’ in the ‘Start Search’ Box.

  3. 3

    Press ‘Enter’.

  4. 4

Right-click at any place within the folder.

  5. 5

    Select ‘Customize This Folder’.

  6. 6

Select ‘Contacts’ from the drop down under the ‘Use this folder type as a template’.

  7. 7

    Click ‘OK’.

The Contacts property for the Windows Contact folder can be removed as part of the Works 9 installation process. In Windows Vista, contacts can be managed by using the Windows Contacts application which replaces the old Address Book from Windows XP.
