Windows Mail enables you to compose, send, and receive e-mail messages. In addition, it also enables you to send and receive attachments with these mails. You can also save the attachments to your local disk. There are general directions for opening an attachment. You can receive attachments in many different formats, and you can use many different e-mail programs to open them.
The solution to the problemFollow the instructions to open an attachment of an e-mail message in Windows Vista Business:
1Click 'Start', select 'All Programs' and click 'Windows Mail'. (The 'Windows Mail' window appears.)
2From the message list, double-click the appropriate message. (The Message window appears.)
3In the 'Attach' box, double-click the appropriate attachment file. (The 'Mail Attachment' dialog box appears.)
4Click the 'Open' button.
Footnotes:If you can't open a file by double-clicking on it, try launching a program you think might open it, and then use the ‘Open’ command in that program. If that doesn't work, ask the sender of the file to resend the attachment in a file format you can use. For word-processing documents, the RTF format can be read by most applications, and it preserves formatting. Plain, or ASCII, text can be read by almost any program, but all formatting is lost.
