How to resolve the error, “These programs might not work ....” when you try to upgrade to Windows 7.
Windows LiveOneCare is not compatible with Windows 7. This means that the message listed in the ‘Symptoms’ section is displayed if Windows LiveOneCare is running during the upgrade of Windows 7.
The solution to the problemFollow the instructions to resolve the error, “These programs might not work ....” when you try to upgrade to Windows 7:
1Click the following link to download the OneCare Cleanup utility on your computer. Then click ‘Save’ to save the download to your desktop.
2When the download completes right-click the OneCareCleanUp.exe file on your desktop, and then click ‘Run as administrator’.
3Click ‘Run’ on the Internet Explorer Security dialog box.
- If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click ‘Continue’ , and then, click ‘OK’
- When you receive the message 'This program will clean Windows Live OneCare from your computer...' click ‘Continue’.
- Click ‘Accept’ on the ‘End-User Licensing Agreement’, and then click ‘Continue’.
- When the cleaning process has completed you will be prompted to restart your computer. Close all running applications, and then click ‘Restart Now’
Footnotes:While upgrading your current operating system to Windows 7 on a computer that is running Window LiveOneCare, you may be required to uninstall the programs that do not function properly after the upgrade.
