Question

How to add a background picture behind the text in Microsoft FrontPage 2003

Reason
In Microsoft FrontPage 2003, you can add a background picture behind the text. This means that you can use an image as your page’s background and over it you can place the text. This way you can create your own personal webpages and place the favorite picture and text over them.

The solution to the problem

Follow the instructions to add a background picture behind the text in Microsoft FrontPage 2003:

  1. 1

Select the ‘Format’ menu and select ‘Borders and Shading’.

  2. 2

    Click the ‘Shading’ tab.

  3. 3

In the ‘Background Picture’ text box, enter the location of the graphic or click ‘Browse’ to locate the graphic.

  4. 4

Do any of the following to set the appearance of the background picture:

    1. To have the picture appear only once in the background, select ‘No-Repeat’ from the ‘Repeat’ list.
    2. To have the picture to repeat only horizontally, select ‘Repeat-X’ from the ‘Repeat’ list.
    3. To have the picture to repeat only vertically, select ‘Repeat-Y’ from the ‘Repeat’ list.
    4. To select a position for the background picture relative to the paragraph, select the desired options from the ‘Vertical Position’ and ‘Horizontal Position’ list boxes.
  5. 9

    Click ‘OK’.

Footnotes:

When you select the default ‘Repeat’ option, it causes the picture to be repeated vertically and horizontally until the selected space is filled. Browsers that cannot display style sheets will be unable to display the effects.
