Follow the instructions to fix the error “A Program on your computer has corrupted your default search setting for Internet Explorer 8”:
Click ‘Start’ and then click ‘Run’.
Type ‘Regedit’ and then press ‘Enter’.
Locate the following key:
‘HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerUser Shell Folders’
Add a new ‘Expandable String value’ inside the above mentioned key with a value name of ‘AppData’ and a value data of ‘%USERPROFILE%Application Data’.
Restart the computer and then reopen ‘IE8’.
You can add other search providers to the list which shows in the drop down menu from the ‘Search Box’ and also create your own search provider in Internet Explorer 8. You can change the search provider temporarily for a specific search or specify which search provider you prefer to be used by default.
