How to add, edit, or remove search engines in Google Chrome

Google Chrome automatically saves a list of the search engines you have encountered while browsing the web. You can add, edit or remove any Search Engines and put that in Chrome default search. You can manage multiple search engines or search different websites right from the address bar.

The solution to the problem

Follow the instructions to add, edit or remove search engines in Google Chrome:

  1. 1

    Click the wrench menu.

  2. 2

    Select ‘Options’.

  3. 3

    Click the ‘Basics’ tab.

  4. 4

Click Manage in the ‘Default search’ section.

  5. 5

Use the buttons on the right to manage the search engines in the list. You’ll need to provide the following information for each search engine:

    1. Name: Nickname for the search engine.
    2. Keyword (optional): Fill out this field if you want to create a text shortcut for the search engine. Learn more about keyword searches below.
    3. URL: Type the web address for the search engine into this field.

Now you can search anything by typing your search text in address bar. The default search engine is set to Google when Chrome is first installed. You can also change the default search engine when required.
